Will of William Brown Anderson County Wills Vol. 1, Book C Pages 39-40 In the name of God, Amen, I William Brown of the State of South Carolina and County of Pendleton Being very sick and weak in body but of prefect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God which gave it me, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executioners, nothing doubting, but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God; and as touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me in this life with, I give, devise and dispose of the same in following manner and form. First of all I will that all my just and lawful debts be paid out of my estate, funeral expenses, etc. Second, The Manor Plantation or tract of land whereon I now live, I will that is shall belong unto my beloved wife Hannah Brown during her life or till she pleases to give it up, and then that it shall devolve or belong to William Brown, son of Alexander Brown. Third, I will that my beloved wife Hannah Brown (whom I constitute and appoint, to be my Executrix) shall peaceably possess all the Negroes which I am now possessed of during her life, and at her decease that she shall dispose of them as she sees cause. Fourth, I also will that my beloved wife Hannah Brown shall also possess all my household goods and movable effects together with all debts, dues and accounts and so forth which is due to me: and I do utterly disallow, revoke, and disavow all and every other will or testament made by me to be nul void and of none effect; and that this and no other, be my last will and testament made this thirty first day of August Anno Domino, one thousand seven hundred and ninety two, and in the seventeenth year of the sovereignty and independence of the United States of America.
