I have a newspaper report dated August 6, 1908, reporting the third Boroughs/Burris family re-union which included 800 people. It took place at the Fair Grounds, two miles north of Anderson, SC. The first of these great gatherings was held at Old Mountain Creek Baptist Church on August 22, 1906, the second was at Salem Church, Aug. 14, 1907. The Rev. Samuel E. Burriss of Hugo, Okla. addressed the gathering and paid homage to Joshua & Sarah Burriss, the first to settle in the area more than "130 years prior". Subtract 1908 from the current year, and add that number to 130 and that is how long we know our family was in America.
