Conveyance of McGill to Stuart

Anderson County Conveyance Book W, pages 197-198:

 JOHN MCGILL sold to ADAM STUART 31 1/2 acres of land for the sum of $145.00, December 27, 1838.  Witnesses: George Stuart and Elizabeth McPherson.

 

John McGill to Adam Stuart, State of South Carolina.

Know all men by these present that I John McGill of the State and district of Anderson for and consideration of the sum of One Hundred and Forty Five Dollars to me in hand paid by Adam Stuart of the State and district aforesaid have granted sold and released unto the said Adam Stuart all that tract or parcel of said land containing Thirty one and a half acres be the same more or less.  Bounding as follows:  beginning etc.

See the America plat situated in the said district on a branch of Weems or Steels Creek of Big Generostee Creek waters of Savannah River it being the residued of a part of a tract originally surveyed for thirty two acres for the said John McGill.  Deed resurveyed by James Gilmer, D. S. September 21st 1838 together with all and singular the right members hereditaments appurtenance to the land belonging or any wise incident or appertaining to have the land belonging singular the premises above mentioned unto the said Adam Stuart his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs executors to warrant and forever defend the above all and singular the said premises to the said Adam Stuart our heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part there of witness my hand and seal this 27th of December one Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Eight.
