The following history information was taken from the Inventory of Church Archives of Churches 1935. By: E.E. Vaughn New Prospect Bapt. Williamston, Main Street Organized in 1870 Wooden frame, no ceiling, no belfry, 1871 - 1918. 1st Sunday in August 1919 it was consecrated, built in 1918. Wooden frame, rectangular shape, 2 vestibule entrances at front belfry & bell over left vestibule entrance, colored curved windows, cemetery contains 2 acres, church lot one acre, parsonage , value of church lot $500, value of church building and parsonage $9500. First settled clergy Rev. Frank Morris, tenure 1870 - 1872. Membership 165. The members of this church worshipped with the Methodist church members prior to their organization, after the preacher came they used the Methodist building in the evenings for Sunday worship. The influence of Rev. D. W. Hiott at Big Creek was instrumental in perfecting the organization. Rev. Hiott was a white person at Big Creek. o----------o RRBA = Rocky River Colored Baptist Association. I sent abstracts from its minutes, showing who represented the different churches at the annual Association meetings. I have used them to establish several genelaogies. Committee of five to investigate. Committee reported that Morris and Rogers had agreed to make up at church at Williamston, "parted in peace." Still unsettled problem between FS Morris and Bro.
