Steubenville Herald Star, April 2, 1937

Miss Addie Taylor of Brilliant died of complications at 2:38 am today at her home. She was a member of the Brilliant Christian Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs Sarah Crouch of Brilliant, Miss Mary Taylor at home and one brother Emmett Taylor of Brilliant. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Steubenville Herald Star, February 28, 1950

Miss Mary Elizabeth Taylor, life long resident of Brilliant, died of complications at Host Convalescent Home in Hopedale, Monday at 6:15 pm. She had been a patient there since Nov. 26, 1948. Born January 29, 1864, she was the daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Downer Taylor. She was a member of Christian Church in Brilliant and Bethany Sunday School Class. She was a Sunday School Teacher for 32 Years. Friends may call at Burford Home in Steubenville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at Christian Church in Brilliant with Rev. Dana Mac Donald officiating. Burial will be in New Alexander Cemetery.

Steubenville Hearld Star, March 13, 1922

Thomas Taylor, entered into rest Sunday, March 12, 1922, at 9:20 am, at his home in Brilliant, ages 85 Years. He was the son of the late Henry & Sarah Taylor and was born near Rayland, October 7, 1836. He was married to Elizabeth Downer who died November 4, 1904. Mr Taylor enlisted for service in the Civil War and served as a private in Co.B, 52nd Inf. honorably discharged at Nashville, Tenn. He was a devout christian and a member of the Christian Church in Brilliant. He leaves to mourn his loss one brother Daniel Taylor, of Bethany, W. Va. Also the following sons and daughters, E. W. Taylor, Mrs Sarah Crouch and Misses Mary & Adda Taylor all of Brilliant. He was a retired farmer and well favorably known in this vicinity and honored for his sterling integrity and many noble traits of character.

Mrs. Minnie G. Taylor, 72, died Thursday at 9:15 pm at the home of her daughter, Mrs Gladys Carpenter, 170 Worthington St. Yorkville. She had been in failing health for mumber of years. Mrs Taylor was born Oct. 23, 1882, at Warren Township, Jefferson County, a daughter of the laste Russell & Sally Fellows Bucey. She had been a lifelong resident of Warren Twp. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Carpenter of Yorkville, Mrs. Mabel Waugh of Rayland, Mrs Helen Bargeland og Jacobs Creek, Pa & Mrs. Ruth Kirk of Baden, Pa. One son Henry Taylor of Rush Run. Two sisters, Mrs. Russie Lewis of Rush Run and Mrs. Cora Burch of Martins Ferry; a half sister, Mrs. Edith Hood of Martins Ferry; two half brothers, Bernard Conaway of Cadiz and Hays Conaway of Martins Ferry, eight grandchildren & eight great grandchildren. Her husband Daniel Taylor preceded her in death. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Hopwell Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Cemetery at Hopewell.
