Obituary The Herald-Star January 5, 1929, Steubenville, OH


Mrs. Anna Mary, wife of Edwin S. Anderson, entered into rest at the home, 317 North Fourth Street on Saturday at 2:10 a.m. Her death followed ten days illness with flu and pneumonia. She was born at Patterson's Mills, PA, on October 13, 1878. She was the daughter of Thomas and Anna Coleman Price; both deceased. She was married to Mr. Anderson October 22, 1902. the husband and these children survive a devoted and loving wife and mother whose memory will ever be cherished by them, Mary, Martha Grace, wife of John Sperry of New Castle, PA; Margaret Virginia, Catherine, Eleanor and John P. Two sisters and a brother also survive, Mrs. Van Pettibone of Eldersville, PA; Richard and Eleanor Price of this city. She was a member of St. Paul's church. She was a woman of fine personal qualities and her death will be regretted by her many friends, who extend sympathy to the family in this hour of sadness. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Steubenville on January 8, 1929.

Edwin S. Anderson, 317 North Fourth Street, retired carpenter contractor and a member of a pioneer family which settled in Steubenville in 1815, died at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohio Valley hospital. He had been in poor health for the last two years and seriously ill since last Friday when he was taken to the hospital. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Anderson was born in the old homestead on South Third Street, April 13, 1867, the son of Joseph and Margaret Burrier Anderson. He was educated in the Steubenville schools and graduated from the Wells high school in the class of 1885. He then served as and apprentice to the carpenter's trade and was engaged in it until he retired a few years ago.

He served as a Republican city councilman and was a former precinct committeeman. Mr. Anderson was a skilled musician and was identified with the former Steubenville Patton band. He was a member of the American Federation of Labor and was affiliated with the St. Paul's church. He spent his entire life in Steubenville. On October 23, 1902 he was married to Miss Anna Mary Price, of Washington County, PA. He is survived by six children, Mrs. W. C. Worley, Detroit; Mrs. J. A. Sperry, Virginia, Eleanor, Catherine, John P., all of Steubenville and three grandchildren. Burial December 22, 1934 at Union Cemetery
