Newton Clark Guerin was the son of James Guerin and Margaret Lyons. Margaret was from Lyons Farms, near Springfield, and the Guerins were from Jockey Hollow, or what is now the Historic site near Morristown. We have traced Newton Clark Guerin's ancestry back through a Simon and a Vincent. Newton's grandfather or great grandfather's obituary is in the Jerseyman, and there is a book that lists him in it, at the Morristown Public Library. I do not have my notes on this family, however we did trace the line back.

I believe I have in my possession, or I returned it to my aunt's mother, a "receipt", from the turn of the Century, or just before, (late 1890's or so) by some person claiming that for a certain fee from each person (named Guerin, in our particular family) he would go to France and represent the Family in some entitlement to a Geurin Estate in France, not only being given a fee, but Power of Attorney to represent my aunt's family. Needless to say, I believe this was part of a "scam", and no such Estate entitlement ever existed, as our Geurins by that time had been here in the US for almost 200 years. Also needless to say, no one ever heard from the man again.

As of April 2008, the owner of the Guerin Bible referred to on this site is the mother of David Henry's aunt.
