ARTICLE 1

"Miss Lucie Catherine GATES of Philipp, was chosen 'Miss Tallahatchie' at the Tallahatchie county beauty review recently held at Charleston. Miss Gates won over a field of twenty-three contestants. She will represent Tallahatchie county at the Cotton Carnival at Clarksdale and at the Tri-State Fair at Memphis. Miss Gates attended the Greenwood High School, graduating with the class of 1936. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Gates of Philipp."

'Miss Hardin County,' and Doris HENRY of Greenwood, Miss., will be 'Miss
LeFlore county,' in the Mid-South Fair Beauty Contest here."

float. Holding torches, candles, lamps, and ultra-modern electric lamps
on the float were (left to right) Marjorie DOTY, Marthat MICHIE, Josslyn
JOHNSON, Dorothy SHANDS and Phyllis FINCH."
