Honoring The Men And Women Who Built the "Liberty" Ships

South Portland Shipyards

b The northern part of So. Portland, Me, was transformed from a quiet residential neighborhood into a bustling shipyard between 1941 and 1945.  As many as 30,000 people worked at the yards during those years.  Arthur J. Denis of Westbrook, ME, my father, was one; so was my late ex-father-in-law, Harold F. Bent of Gorham, ME.

This website is dedicated to them, their fellow workers, and the magnificent work they all produced.
