Tax records in Maryland can be very helpful in locating families prior to the censuses and for bridging gaps in vital, land, and probate records. Before the Revolutionary War, the rent rolls (Land Use Tax) are the best records of this kind. Lists for some counties in the years 1658-9, 1700-24, and 1753-62 are found in the Calvert Papers at the Maryland Historical Society. The land rent rolls can be found at the Maryland State Archives.
This county is part of the USGenWeb Project, a non-profit genealogical resource web system, and is maintained by Sonny O'Haver with help and information provided by other volunteers.
