Cemeteries

There is no state-wide index or collection of cemetery transcriptions. The LDS Family History library, Maryland Historical Society, Holdcraft Collection, and DAR have many tombstone inscriptions. The Genealogical Council of Maryland has a directory of Maryland Cemeteries. It gives the name of the cemetery, address or location, contact person, the dates of the earliest and most recent burial, the present condition of the cemetery, whether tombstones have been transcribed, and the where the transcripts can be found.

If you have transcriptions or photos of any Garrett County cemetery and would like to share it with other researchers, please consider donating it to this website or to the
Garrett County USGW Archives.

For more information or to donate a tombstone transcription, please email Kathi Jones-Hudson. Please visit the tombstone project for up to the moment additions!
