Last Will and Testament of THOMAS HUNT of Baltimore Co., MD
dated 28 Dec 1833, Proved 8 Feb 1842


In the name of God Amen. I THOMAS HUNT of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland being in perfect health of body, and sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me home, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say.

First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral chares are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my son ENOCH HUNT, the part of the plantation whereon he now lives as far as the said Enoch cleared with a straight line across the medow with said clearing across the Turnpike to the outside line of the original tract and no more.
Item: I give and devise to my daughter HANNAH HUNT one half of the land that is situated on the East side of the Baltimore and York Turnpike Road, and one hundred dollars in money and no more.
Item: I give and devise to Ann Davis my grand-daughter, fifty dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Gendy, fifty dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter CASSANDER EVINS, fifty dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter CHARLOTTE CHUFFEY one hundred dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter PENELOPE DOWNS, fifty dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son William children twenty five dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my grand son William son of Mathew, twenty dollars.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Johnís children twenty five dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Wileyís children , twenty five dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Thomasí children, twenty five dollars and no more.
Item: I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my whole estate to my son Mathew Hunt.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint Jesse Pocock to be my sole executor of this my last Will and Testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made, satisfying and confirming this and none other to be my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty eight day of December Eighteen hundred and thirty three.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by Thomas Hunt the above named Testator as and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

Baltimore County, On the 8th day of February 1842, came Israel Pocock, and Isaac Sampson two the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Thomas Hunt late of said County deceased, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that they did see the Testator sign and seal this Will, that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that they together with Jesse Pocock the other subscribing witness thereto subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in his presence, at his request and in the presence of each other.

Renunciation of Jesse Pocock
I Jesse Pocock, appointed Executor in the last will and Testament of Thomas Hunt late of Baltimore County deceased, do hereby refuse to act as Executor of said Will, and do therefore renounce all my right to letters testimentary upon said deceasedís Estate, and all right, title and claim that I may, or could have had, by virtue of said appointment. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name this 4th day of April 1842
