Last Will and Testament of Michael Sauble of Baltimore county,
dated 2 April 1827, proved 19 April 1827


Be it remembered that I, Michael Sauble of Baltimore County in the State of Maryland being weak of body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time it may take place in order therefore to be the better prepared to leave this Transitory world when it pleases my Creator to call me hence do therefore make publish and declare this Instrument of writing to be my last will and testament in the following manner; to wit, First and principally I recommend my Soul to Almighty God the giver, thereof and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named and appointed and the worldly estate that I am possessed with I give devise and bequeath as follows - to wit, -

I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catherine Sauble three pewter dishes, six pewter plates, six pewter spoons, one Iron pott, one Copper Coffee kettle one large chest one feather bed and bedstead and all the bed clothes thereunto belonging, two chairs and one small table half a dozen of cups and saucers and the choice of any one of my Cows and the sum of three hundred dollars money of the United States to be paid unto her in one year after my death. -

I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth one Beauro. -

I give devise and bequeath unto my son, Michael Sauble one Bay Mare and one year old Colt and my old Waggon and all the waggon (Guns?) thereunto belonging. -

I will devise and request that all my real Estate or land together with all the rest residues and remainder of my goods and personal estate after due notice be given by Advertisement shall be sold at public Sale or Sales by my said Executors or the Survivor of them whom I do hereby direct, authorize and empower to sell transfer and convey to the purchaser or purchasers thereof. And all the money arising from said sale or sales of such of my Estate hereby directed to be sold I give devise and bequeath in the following manner, to wit, -

I give devise and bequeath unto my said Wife Catherine Sauble the one third part of the money aforesaid and all Rest Residue and remainder thereof I will devise and direct shall be divided into eight shares or parts and one eight part or share of which I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Mary Roberts wife of William Roberts to be deducted therefrom the sum of Seventy six dollars which she hath already received from me. - I will devise and bequeath unto my son Peter Sauble one eight part or share of the said money to be deducted therefrom the sum of Seventy six dollars which he has already received from me. - I give devise and bequeath unto my son John Sauble the one eight part or share of said money. - I give devise and bequeath unto my son Michael Sauble one eight part or share of said money. - I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Sauble one eight part or share of the money aforesaid. - I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Lydia Shaffer the one eight part or share of the said money to be deducted therefrom the sum of sixty dollars which she has already received from me. - I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Anne Sauble the one eight part or share of the said money. - The remaining one eight part or share I give unto Daniel Shaffer, Catherine Shaffer and Michael Shaffer the Children of my daughter Catherine Shaffer deceased, to be equally divided between them share and share alike after the sum of Seventy six dollars is deducted from the said one eight part or share which sum their said Mother Catherine Shaffer received from me in her lifetime. -

Lastly I do hereby nominate authorize and appoint my friend, Peter Gittier (of Henry) and my son Peter Sauble to be sole Executors of this my last will and testament, revoking and nulling all other wills by me in any wise made ratifying and confirming this and none other. - In testimony whereof the said Michael Sauble have hereunto sit his hand and seal this second day of April Eighteen hundred and twenty-seven. Signed, sealed, published and declared by Michael Sauble the above named testator as and for his last will in the presence of us, who at his request, and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as here unto as hereby appears.

On the 19th day of April 1827 came John Mentry and Henry Shultz two of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last will and testament of Michael Sauble late of said County deceased and made oath on the holy evangely of Almighty God that they did see the testaor sign and seal this will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament that the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they together with Martin Minter Junior the other subscribing witness thereto subscribed their manes as witnesses to this will in his presence at this re1quest and in the presence of each other. Sworn to before the subscriber Register of Will for Baltimore County.
