SHAFFERWilfred T.17 July 190325 July 1903SHAFFER, WILFRED T. Wilfred T. Shaffer, the only and beloved son of Calvin T. and Mary E. Shaffer, passed peacefully away on Friday morning of last week, July 17th, at 3:50 o'clock, of typhoid fever, being only confined to bed one week. His death was a sad shock to everyone, he being the head of all amusements and
by his jolly disposition was loved by all, both young and old. His funeral took place on Sunday at 3:30 P.M., thence to St. Joseph's Church, Belair road, where the services were held. Rev. Father Wannenberg touched the heart of each mourner as he preached most pathetically over our dear deceased. The funeral was one of the largest around the county, and many beautiful designes were offered to show the last respect to our dear friend. The pallbearers being his school mates, were Harry and Archer Gross, Charles and Nicholas Owens, Otho and Chancey Hall. He is survived by parents and two sisters.

In 1827 she with a Miss Weiderman, purchased a horse and buggy and drove out over the Frederick road and on to Cincinnati and return for the purpose of seeing the country. For a long time she was housekeeper for the old Howard family and was well-known to old-time Baltimoreans. While housekeeper for Charles Calvert at his home near Blandensburg, she was married in 1841 to John R Sheriff, a Howard county planter, who died in 1881 at the age of 81 years. She is survived by her son, Benjamin R. SHeriff; George W Stembler, her brother, and Mrs Margaret Nicholson of Catonsville.Maryland Journal
