How can we drink this bitter cup,
And say the word farewell?

SANFORDRachel Ann-1 Dec 1860LINES ON THE DEATH OF RACHEL ANN SANFORD
The lids she so seldom could close,
By sorrow forbidden to sleep,
Now sealed in their mortal repose,
Have strangely forgotten to weep,
The fountains can yield no supplies,
These hollows from water are free,
The tears are wiped from her eyes,
And evil they shall never see.

I hope in heaven we soon whall meet

Yet do not grieve or weep for me
For I am free from every pain
Then pray we soon may meet again;
Say to our choldre, watch and pray.
And live for glory every day
For soon the looked for end will come
Then we shall meet in Heaven, our home
Dear wife and children, friends and all
Regard my death to you a call
And tor your end, oh ready stand

Then when a few more days are passed
We all shall meet in Heaven at last
And there will saints and angles dwell

Yes, dear mother, thou art gone,
Thy aching breast is still;
Thy Father called thee to thy home,
Thy cup of joy to fill.

'Tis hard to give our mother up,
But we will be resigned
To Him who is too wise too err,
Too good to be unkind.

Day after day we saw her fade,
And gently pass away;
Yet often in our hearts we prayed
That she might longer stay.

Farewell, farewell, our mother dear,
Life is sad without you here;
Oh, may we meet in Heaven above,
Where all is joy, and peace and love.

Yes, dear mother, thou art gone,
Thy aching breast is still;
Thy Father called thee to thy home,
Thy cup of joy to fill.
'Tis hard to give our mother up,
But we will be resigned To Him who is too wise too err,
Too good to be unkind.
Day after day we saw her fade,
And gently pass away;
Yet often in our hearts we prayed That she might longer stay.
Farewell, farewell, our mother dear,
Life is sad without you here;
Oh, may we meet in Heaven above,
Where all is joy, and peace and love.
The funeral services will be held at Rev. Mr. Frincke's Church, on Sunday, at ? P.M.

But went bravely, a helping hand to lend
Little dreaming that this days duty
Would bring him to a sudden end.
In his course of life this was his motto/
"Do your duty, boys and with a will
If this decreed that we should die here
Why then do your duty still"
And now at rest thought he will be
Free from all sorrow and from care.
Sweet will be his rest in heaven
And may we all meet him over there.
