During the war he was a private in Company C, Fourth Maryland Infantry, and in the battle of Gettysburg he was shot in the face, the large bullet breaking his jaw-bone and knocking out some teeth. While suffering from the wound, he was made a prisoner and brought to Baltimore. In several other conflicts during the war he was also injured. Mr. McCann had been at the Soldiers' Home for six years. He was born in Baltimore, and leaves a wife and six grown children, living at 412 North Paca street. McKee died at midnight Monday at his home, on Woodbourne avenue, Govanstown, after an illness of three years with paralysis and heart trouble. Mr. McKee was born in county Down, in the north of Ireland, and came to this country when a young man. He was for many years with the firm of Hugh Jenkins & Co., Baltimore. When that firm dissolved, he became secretary of the Merchants; Shot Tower Company and remained in that office until ill-health compelled him to retire. He leaves a widow, who was a daughter of the late Robt. Jenkins, of Dulany's Valley, and four daughters, Mrs. Wm. F. Dabney, of New York, Mrs. George O. Gillingham and Misses Lizzie and Grace McKee. The funeral took place Wednesday from his late home, on Woodbourne avenue, Govanstown. Rev. Henry G. Martin, pastor of the Govanstown Presbyterian Church, officiated. The pallbearers were Benjamin W. Jenkins, Nelson H. Bell, J. Everitt Clark, Harry Wroth, Samuel Bowley, Dr. Arthur B. Browne, Dr. E. M. Duncan and Walters T. Harvey. The floral designs were numerous and handsome.
