Sleep on sweetly, my sister, until the joyful sound is heard; when the trumpet shall sound to wake the dead, "Then burst the tomb in sweet surprise, And meet your Saviour in the skies." Rest, sister, rest, thy spirit's gone, An angel's hand conveyed thee home; Oh, may thy body rest in peace, And all thy sorrows ever cease. I've gazed upon thy clay-cold face, And tried some mark of life to trace, O! speak, dear sister, once to me Before thee lands on calvary. My cup of sorrow' s running o'er, And joys that were, shall be no more; Then, sister, kindly bid me come; And heaven shall be our lasting home. We'll join our friends who've gone before, And all our trouble will be o'er; A token of thy memory give, And teach me rather die than live. Make me feel and own his grace Whose home's a happy resting place; Oh sister, how I think of thee, Though thou art in eternity. No, not while breath remains in me, Will I cease to think of thee; My memory on thy face shall dwell, And breathe the sacred word - farewell. - Towsontown. | Baltimore County Advocate |

Her afflictions were borne with Christian fortitude and resignation, and although in the providence of God, but two months since she was called to endure the loss of a beloved child, in the fourth year of its age, she mourned not, but confided in his promise, that "all things shall work together for good to them that love the Lord." She departed in the full triumphs of the gospel faith; and when the work of death had so beclouded her vision that the forms of her loved ones were no longer visible to her, with that mysterious spiritual sight, which frequently precedes the last moment of the Christian's earthly pilgrimage, she beheld the glories of the upper world, and gave praise to God, "that she was about to join the spirit of her departed babe," in that rest which Christ hath prepared for his faithful disciples. | Baltimore Sun |

Fold the robe closely about the still form, Press the cold lips, which love's kiss cannot warm; Tears drop like rain on the beautiful head, Fond hearts are weeping, for father is dead. Farewell, father, thou hast left us, For a bright and heavenly sphere; Providence hast thus bereft us Of a friend and father dear. Farewell, father, we, in sadness, 'Round thy lifeless body stand; While thy spirit waits in gladness, In the bright and heavenly land. Farewell, father, gently sleeping, With a smile upon thy brow, Which does seem to chide our weeping For thee, who art happy now. Farewell, father, thy calm features Plainly tell us all is well; Yet it pains our hearts to leave thee, And to say the last farewell. Farewell, father, may we meet thee Where the heavenly chorus swells; 'Midst the happy we will greet thee, Never more to say farewell.
