C., in 1862, to the time of the final discharge in Washington in 1865. At the close of the war Gen. Deceased was born on the old homestead of his father, near where he died. He was a prosperous man, and took a leading part in the local affairs of the Eighth district for many years. He leaves four children - Mrs. E. G. Wheeler, wife of E. G. Wheeler, merchant at Shawan; Mr. Isaac Griffith, farming the home place; W. T.
