| BRAWNER | Daniel W. | 6 July 1866 | 19 July 1866 | On Friday, 6th July, Daniel W. Brawner, in the 28th year of his age. "In the midst of life we are in death" The warning comes to us daily, repeated in the loss of the noble and the good, to give us both a warning and example of the tribute God exacts of humanity. Such an example is given in the decease of the dutiful son, affectionate brother and faithful friend, around whose grave has just been poured the sad tokens of our untimely loss and a loving family's bitter bereavement. Generous, sincere and honorable in all the walks and associations of life, he had gathered around him a host of friends whose circle is saddened by his absence, who lament his premature departure, and who treasure in mournful memory his noble traits and worthy deeds. Green as the ivy that circles his silent resting place will remain the reminders of our lessing sorrow: but having found in his life an example, we must accept in his death the warning that life is but a span, and that to follow him in a better sphere we must tread the humble and Christian path he followed while among us. Let us lay to our hearts the consoling assurance that he is not dead but sleepeth," (sic) and strive by imitating his virtues, to deserve his reward. BY HIS COMPANIONS | Baltimore Sun |
