BAKERMary E.5 Aug 189813 Aug 1898BAKER, Mary E. On Friday night of last week Mrs. Mary E. Baker, aged sixty-five years, was found in a cluster of bushes at Brightside, on the Northern Central Railway, in a dying condition. Dr. Jesse H. Luzerne discovered the body and did what he could to bring about a recovery, but she died shortly afterward. Mrs. Baker, it is said, left her home on the Falls road, Woodberry, about ten days before, and had been exposed to the rains of the past week and suffered from want of food. The body was sent to Mt. Washington, where Justice Chalk viewed the remains and decided an inquest unnecessary. The body was later taken in charge by Undertaker A. S. Marshall and removed to the home of Mrs. Baker's son. Mrs. Baker had been a sufferer from disease for sometime past, and brooded much over her sickness.

In a little snow white casket
Resting all among flowers
Lies our loving blue eyed baby
Who such a little while was ours
Another sweet flower has withered
A gem from this world set free
A lamb in the fold of the shepherd
Who said: let them come into me"

BAYERRussell J.8 Aug 19208 Aug 1920BAYER, In sad & loving remembrance of our dear son & brother, Corporal Russell J Bayer, who was killed in France on August 8, 1918.
Dear son, we are lonesome & sad today
To think how suddenly you passed away;
Our hearts are heavy & grief is our pain,
When we think of you, dear son, that death had to claim.
Your picture on the wall I gaze at every day,
And looking into your dear eyes, they seem to say;
Tis wrong to grieve so hard for me,
For we'll meet some future day.
He left his home in perfect health,
He looked so young and brave;
I little thought how soon
He would be laid in a silent grave.
Oh, the memory of that evening
When they told me my brother was killed,
My heart was crushed with sorrow,
And bitter tears, I shed.
Brother dear, you were called away so sudden,
Without time to say good-by;
But we know your thoughts were with us,
When you were called to die.
We never can forget you, brother,
While in this world we stay,
And our hearts have never been the same,
Since you have passed away.
You shall always be remembered
In this weary world of strife,
And you shall never be forgotten, Russell,
As long as God gives us life.
Sleep on dear uncle, and sweetly rest,
Your sufferings o'er and God knows best
