Phineas REED (or variants), moved to Allegany county, MD in time to be counted with the 1810 census. He had two sons and four daughters at that time. When daughter Eliza was married in 1819, she was termed the daughter of the late Major Phineas REED. I have found a land record, and the administration of his will listing payment of debts, but not the will itself. I would like to find the names of his other children, or the name of his wife.

Zachariah "Zack" JOHNSON was the owner of a dry goods store in downtown Cumberland, Allegany County, MD in the1850s thru the 1890s. Zack was born in Frederick County, Maryland, and spent over 35 years there. Zack married in 1852 and established a home near what is now the Catholic monastery. Zack had a Summer home some five miles downstream just off the Potomac River.
Zack was a friend of Hopewell HEBB and his wife who were both native of Cumberland. Zack first met Hopwell when Hopewell was a student in a Frederick, MD, college. Zack was also a friend of Richard D. JOHNSON, but was not related to him, altho both were raised in Frederick County.
Zack was known to help young men get started in business. Zack and his wife were strong church -goers and were involved in its affairs. Zack died in the 1904 at age 94. Both he and his wife are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, a sister, Mrs. Mary (JOHNSON) ZIMMERMAN of Frederick County, MD. Question: Is there anyone out there in cyberspace who knows who the names of Zacks parents? Clue: His mother is not the mother of his declared sister.
