Also I found a record of the guardianship of Anna Myers Alberry's children by James ALBERRY in the Allegany County Guardian Bonds, Liber A: 1793- 1841. In 1808 James became guardian to John, Rebecca and Anna MYERS. This would fit the 1810 census for James perfectly.
1 male 45 and older - James
2 males 10-16 - maybe James, Anthony, Richard ALBERRY
1 male 16-26 - John MYERS
1 female 45 and older - Anna MYERS ALBERRY
2 females under 10 - Rebecca and Anna MYERS
1 female 16-26 - unknown girl

Dear BAUGHMAN Researchers: Would you all kindly check your records to see if you have a Dennis BAUGHMAN born in 1838 in Allegany Co., MD. I am systematically checking all the records of 1840 and 1850 census for anyone who has a child, male, under the age of 5. So far, what I have found is a Charles BAUGHMAN from Baltimore Co.

Also, if any of your BEAL and BAUGHMAN researchers have these lines marrying into each other please let me know. My Dennis (gg grandfather) married Lidabell Beal from Southampton Township, Somerset Co., PA in 1860. Hopefully someone has some information.

Good Evening,
I'm looking for parents and sibs of William PORTER who owned land in Yohogany Co., VA in 1785 while living in Steubenville, Ohio. The reference to the "Porter Cemetery" near Eckhart Mines caught my eye. Are there any records of a William or David PORTER around there? David was William's son. David married Isabel SIMERAL of the SIMERAL family who ran the ferry on the Youghogieny (sp?) River in the late 1700s, early 1800s.

Have lots on the SIMERALs and the PORTERs from David and Isabel on down to the present but the PORTERs from David and William back are a brick wall.

Will be glad to exchange any information and thanks!

I have found my GG Grand father Abner SOMERVILLE age 23 in 1850 census in Allegany Md newly married to his wife Lucinda LEASURE daughter of John LEASURE of Allegany County. I was looking at the Bedford County Pa 1850 census trying to find his parents and brothers and sister.

In Southampton township. I found a John SOMERVILLE age 60 occupation Shoemaker. I also found a ?ilman (Tilman or Gilman?) LEISURE age 35 Shoemaker. Somerville was residence visited 169 on page 154 and Leisure was residence visited 197 on page 156.

Would this be close enough to be the same town? If so would anyone know which town this might be. Does anyone know of a connection between Lucinda LEASURE and (Tilman) LEISURE?
Would a town this size be able to support 2 shoemakes or more likely would these men be working together?
Would anyone know what churches and cemeteries are in this area?

Tilman LEISURE age 35 Shoemaker
Phoeba age 39
Nancy age 18
Rachel age 15
William age 12
Jeremiah age 8
Margaret age 2
Elizabeth age 28
Amamnda age 1
these are the people listed in the household.

Thanks in advance for any help

My ancestor Jonah JONES and family came to the US from Merthyr Tydfil in Glamorgan, South Wales about 1852 according to the US Census. He was a coal miner and his obituary says that he lived for several years in Maryland (location unknown) before moving on to Pomeroy, Ohio. The 1851 British Census shows them in Wales and the 1860 US Census shows them in Ohio.

I was refered to this list on the basis that there is a history of coal mining in this county. Can anyone provide me with some information or pointers to it that would provide me with information about this individual in general or the history of Welsh coal miners in the county in general?

Thanks for any help you can provide
