Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865 was organized on May 30, 1885 in Massillon, Ohio. Incorporated in the State of Ohio December 12, 1885-National Alliance Daughters of Veterans. Endorsed by the Grand Army of the Republic at the 34th Annual Encampment held in Chicago, Illinois 1900. Our name was changed to Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865 at the 54th National Convention held in Des Moines, Iowa 1944. Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War is a non-for-profit organization of women of direct lineal descent working together to promote patriotism, preserve history, preserve Civil War battlefields, Historic sites & Union Monuments, participating in ceremonies on National & Local holidays. The objectives of the Daughter's of Union Veterans of the Civil War are to perpetuate the memories of our fathers, their loyalty to the Union, their unselfish sacrifices for the preservation of the same and to keep alive the history of those who participated in that heroic struggle for the maintenance of our free government. In charities we support a Nurses Scholarship which is given to an applicant of $400.00 per year who applies. They need to prove they are in the Nursing or Doctors Program with an accredited college. Other charities we support are the Veterans, Illinois Veterans' Home at Quincy, IL. |
