Text Box: MEMBERSHIP
The Pinellas Genealogy Society’s mission is to further genealogical research and preservation of Pinellas County genealogy materials.
The heart and soul of the PGS are its members and new members are welcome at all times. Do you know anyone who would like to explore genealogy? Bring them to a meeting or to our “Introduction to Genealogy” evening in February...SEE PAGE 4!
Your membership in the Society is what makes possible all of the projects we do and programs we offer. It also entitles you to the quarterly, and it is at the heart of sustaining this league of like-minded, supportive researchers.
Dues are due! Don’t let your membership lapse for 2007.

Text Box: DELIVERY PROBLEMS
Occasionally, members do not receive their copies of the quarterly (The Pinellas Genealogist) as they should. Some times that is because of the unique alignment of the stars and the moon, but usually it is because of not having the correct address in our files. And address problem is further intensified by people going north at various times of the year.

In the past we have done our best to track you down and re-deliver the publication. That approach as met with minimal success, however, so we are going to try a more direct and simple approach:
If you do not get your copy, it will be held for you at the Genealogy desk at the Library. Simply drop by whenever you are there and it will be waiting for you.

We have struggled with a solution to this problem for some time. It is our hope that this will easily solve it. At the end, our goal is for you to receive your quarterly.
Text Box: NEW INDEX

Have you noticed the new index for the microfilm, microfiche, and CDRoms?

It is located on the top of the cabinets where each of those media are located…AND it is published on the Society Website.

This update is fairly recent, so if you have not checked it out, do so. We have over 19,000 fiche, 12,000 film, and 600 CDRoms. The index is invaluable.

Happy New Year!Text Box: Computer Interest Group (CIG)
This group meets monthly at 9:45 A.M. in the Jenkins Auditorium on the third Saturday of each month just prior to the regular PGS meeting. This forum is an informal discussion group in a question and answer format on anything related to the use of computers in genealogy. There is no fee and all levels of computer expertise are welcome. The CIG is led by Bob Bryan BBryan84@gmail.com.

The Family Tree Maker Group (FTM)
FTM enthusiasts meet the first Saturday of each month, October through May, at 10:00 A.M. in the Jenkins Auditorium. Each ses-

GETTING STARTED IN GENEALOGY! A class for new genealogists will be held in the Largo Library Jenkins Auditorium from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, 8 Feb. It is open to the public. The session will be partly presentation and partly individual assistance. It will be a wonderful opportunity to introduce people to genealogy and the PGS. Tell your friends who have been asking you questions about genealogy, or come yourself and bring them along. We can all benefit from brushing up on our basics.
