Park County was named after the area that it is in, South Park, a place named by the fur traders and trappers.  The county seat is Fairplay, an old mining town community.  Park County has vast open area.  It is adjacent to Clear Creek, Jefferson, Fremont, Lake, Teller, Summit and Chaffee Counties.  Towns in Park County are:  Fairplay, Hartsel, Alma, Bailey, Como, Grant, Guffey, Jefferson, Lake George, Shawnee,  Tarryall and South Park which is always used as a place in Park County though no town exists, called South Park.  Eleven Mile Reservoir and Spinney Mountain Reservoir are great locations as recreational areas.

Park County is available for adoption.  If you are interested in becoming the County Administrator for this county please email the State Administrator.  There are other counties in Colorado that are available for adoption and the State Administrator can help in those counties too.
