the Spring of 2010, club members took on the project of photographing all the
headstones in the Prince Rupert Fairview Cemetery, including the
Columbarium, and posting them on the findagrave website.
This project also involved the finding, cleaning and lifting of headstones that had sunk below
the moss and muskeg. The cemetery has been in use since 1912 and has approximately 7000 graves.
As of 2017, we have photographed and posted over 5000 of the existing headstones.
We also continue to monitor and photograph
new burials and add these memorials as well.
have also attempted to find and photograph headstones of early
Prince Rupert burials between 1904 and 1912, on Garden Island, across the
Harbour from the city.
