FAIRVIEW CEMETERY

Work at Cemetery
In the Spring of 2010, club members took on the project of photographing all the headstones in the Prince Rupert Fairview Cemetery, including the Columbarium, and posting them on the findagrave website.
This project also involved the finding, cleaning and lifting of headstones that had sunk below the moss and muskeg. The cemetery has been in use since 1912 and has approximately 7000 graves. As of 2017, we have photographed and posted over 5000 of the existing headstones. We also continue to monitor and photograph

new burials and add these memorials as well.

GARDEN ISLAND

Garden Island Club members have also attempted to find and photograph headstones of early Prince Rupert burials between 1904 and 1912, on Garden Island, across the Harbour from the city.

PACIFIC MARINERS MEMORIAL PARK

Mariners Park Memorial Wall A section of seawall, located at Pacific Mariners park, is dedicated to those lost at sea whose bodies have never been recovered.
Tiles on this section of the seawall are engraved with the name of the lost Mariner, the name of the boat he/she was on, and the date he/she went missing. Club members have photographed each of these tiles and posted them on the findagrave website.
