Kettle 2011

The Melting Pot Genealogical Society will distribute its annual publication, The Kettle, at the September 24 meeting at the MPGS Library. The 2011 edition includes six family or individual histories for long time residents of Hot Springs. Those included are: Godwin Family, William A. “Bill” Seiz, Elmer Beard, Jim Randall, Echols/Hurst Families, and Moses Donalds. Keeping the goal of a genealogical society to make historical data available for research, The Kettle includes listings of marriages (H and I), cemetery transcriptions for Mountain Pine (Browning) and Peak Cemetery, probate records (part of H), surname books available at the MPGS Library, pedigree charts and many records from Garland County and other places. The MPGS Library houses 6,340 titles to help with family research. Also available with research data is the MPGS website located at  http://rootsweb.ancestry.com/~armpgs/. The Kettle is available to be picked up at the MPGS Library, 649-B Ouachita Avenue. The cover of The Kettle was created and painted by Richard Stephens, local watercolorist. This is Richard’s second year to create the cover for The Kettle.

The Melting Pot is a non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers. MPGS is dependent on dues and donations to carry on the preservation of genealogical information. The corporate memberships primarily finance publishing The Kettle. Corporate members are Simmons 1st Bank of Hot Springs, Seiz Sign Company, Hot Springs Convention Bureau and City Plumbing Heating and Electric, Inc.
