About Us
The Melting Pot Genealogical Society was organized in September 1976 by Ms. Inez Cline and others. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to the assimilation and preservation of historical and genealogical documents. It boasts a reference library of over 5,100 volumes, as well as historical journals, microfilm, and microfiche (see library inventory).
Dues are $25.00 per year (plus $4.00 for shipping if you cannot pick up your copy of The Kettle), and that includes membership for husband and wife. These dues entitle a member to receive the annual periodical as well as checking out four books for a two-week period per member family. Unfortunately, we are unable to mail books to be checked out. They must be checked out at the library in person and brought back in person. If you have not already paid your 2012 dues, please be sure to do so right away!
The Melting Pot is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This means that any donation, both large and small, is tax deductible. This could include books, needed items or cash donations.
The Melting Pot library is connected to the internet!! You may use the library computer or bring your wireless computer to the library and log on.
For months, Barbara Erdmann has been working on updating our library inventory and the full listing is published on the website. We owe Barbara a huge debt of gratitude as the inventory had not been updated since 2005. If you have not already met Barbara, please visit the library and, perhaps, volunteer to work in the library.
2012 Memberships
Your 2012 membership is due in January. Please click here for the 2012 membership application. You may print it from your computer, complete it, and mail to the post office box address.

Calendar of Events
Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events page. If you have a family, school, church, community reunion and would like us to add it, please let the webmaster know. We can also post cemetery cleanup days. (This would include Garland County or any county that borders it.)
Cemetery Listings
We have included several cemetery transcriptions on our site. We have just begun, however, to add personal photographs to these pages as well. If you have a personal photograph of someone who is listed in one of the cemeteries we have transcribed, please email it to us with complete information so that we may include it in the website. You should show in the subject line: personal photograph for --- (giving the cemetery name shown on the website) Cemetery. The message should include the full name of the person whose photograph you are sending and dates shown in the transcription so that we will place it with the correct person. Please send only one photograph per person and only one photograph per email.
If you have surveyed a cemetery (or think you would like to) that is not listed on our site, please email us so that we can put it online.
Corporate Memberships
We wish to give a huge thanks to our corporate members whose membership helps us in many ways including publishing The Kettle.
2008: Simmons First Bank of Hot Springs
2009: Seiz Sign Company
2011: Hot Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau
City Plumbing Heating & Electric, Inc.
Email Addresses
The Melting Pot Genealogical Society has two separate email addresses, and these are noted at the top of the page. There is an email address for the library and one for the webmaster. The webmaster's address should be used to send in photographs or to correct an entry. The library's address should be used to request any information or ask questions from the society.
Family Histories
We would like to include your family histories in our library: either in book form, descendant's reports, pedigree charts.
Help Us
We need your feedback on what things you would like included in this website. Please email us with your suggestions.
How to Contact Us
We welcome comments and/or corrections via e-mail. If you live in the Hot Springs area (or are visiting), we invite you to visit our library and to, hopefully, decide to join our fast-growing association. Our periodicals are full of interesting and helpful information. If you wish to contact us via mail, please be sure to use our post office box!
