RELATIVES OF FR.BEILLEVAIRE COMING FOR A VISIT
The Camrose Booster
Sept. 5/00
The community of Duhamel is getting ready to host four relatives of
Father Beillevaire. His great nephew, Jean Louis Gresle ,of Pazanne,
France, accompanied by family members , will arrive on Sept. 18.
Father Beillevaire left St. Pazanne , France , in 1880. He arrived
at the Laboucane settlement in 1881, where he remained the parish priest
for 55 years. He died in Camrose in 1937 and is buried near his beloved
St. Thomas Church. Father Beillevaire travelled a radius of a hundred
miles on horseback and served all pioneer people , regardless of faith.
An ecumenical service will be held at St. Thomas Historical Church
at 4:00 p.m., on Sept. 19, as a tribute to Father Beillevaire. The
service will be followed by a visit to the cemetery for a wreath laying.
A reception will be held in Duhamel Hall. Everyone is invited to help
provide a western welcome.
